Real Life - Make sure you stop to enjoy it! - Orange County Family Photographer

A couple of months ago I did a family photo session for my cousin and his family.  They have 3 kids ranging from just over a year to 7 (two boys and a girl) We all had a wonderful time!  She really appreciated that I prefer to take "day in the life" style photos and not really posing style.  She and I agreed that sometimes studio photos can be nice, but it's not really WHO the family is, but just what they look like.  We went to a local park and found some nice settings for them to just enjoy each other as a family.  We came up with a few "poses" more or less just making sure that it worked for the framing, but then we just suggested things for them to do.  Being that she has a family with young kids, I don't like to force an idea.  I might have some ideas but if it seems the kids have something else in mind, I go with what comes natural.  Usually it ends up being much better than what I could've planned anyway.

Just a few days ago, I read on Facebook that my cousin's wife Amber was in the hospital.  I found out that she had a severe heart attack.  My cousin had to do CPR on her while he was waiting for the ambulance because she had stopped breathing and had no pulse.  When the paramedics got there, they were able to help her regain a pulse.  Amber has been making lots of progress in the last few days and showing signs that she has brain function.  She's smiled, she blinks to answer questions, she follows people with her eyes...  Anyhow, thinking of all this, I am really glad I got to do that photo session with her family.  Remembering that Amber and I had discussed how much we liked doing life photos, it really makes me happy that we could have these now rather than just a print from a studio.  I printed a bunch of them up and am going to give them to the kids.  We even printed up a large photo to bring to Amber in the hospital.  If anyone wants to join her family's "fan page" to get info on how she's doing and offer the family support, click on this link... The Ross Family - the more people the better.

Anyhow, I though maybe you might want to see photos of Amber and her sweet family...

I think it's great that you got some of these printed and took them up to the hospital -- Nothing better to help her now then images of life before it all.

Great images Lorrie and great sentiments :)
